Who is Gurki?

Gurki has spent her career within the fashion and retail industry where she is a thought leader with nearly two decades of experience working at various iconic companies - and for well respected executives - in the industry. Her experience includes working at Barneys New YorkBrunello CucinelliNeiman MarcusVictoria’s Secret, Old Navy and NuORDER. When the pandemic hint, she became an independent consultant providing strategic support to executive leadership within merchandising and planning functions of various brands and retailers. Some of her former clients have included effortless luxury brand Vince, innovative retailer Switch, leading authority The Business of Fashion and is now at Cult Gaia heading up global merchandising and supporting product development and design.

Like most modern women, Gurki is deeply multi-faceted. She already holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin, but is currently enrolled in Pepperdine University’s prestigious psychology masters program. Whether at work or in their personal lives, her goal is to gain the skills necessary to empower women to break through the mental constraints that society imposes on them.

Her journey to pursue this degree began in a very serendipitous way…

Gurki reluctantly became the first reality TV star for Netflix when she signed up for- what she thought was- a small independent documentary about being single in New York. That show ended up being Netflix’s first dating reality TV show which turned Netflix into the reality TV behemoth that it is today. She ended up going viral, on a Time Square billboard, and garnering extensive international media attention for several years after the show launched. That moment opened her eyes to how much single women were struggling with their mental health and she decided she wanted to learn more about how she could help in a real tangible way - leading her to apply to Pepperdine.

Gurki is happiest in nature and when being physically active. She is highly spiritual, sensitive, empathetic and curious about life and the human experience. Gurki is the daughter of Sikh Punjabi parents who moved to France shortly after their arranged marriage. When she was 12 years old, they migrated from France to Houston and since then she’s lived in Austin, Dallas, Columbus, San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, where she now resides.

Although Gurki has chosen not to have children of her own, she loves spending much of her time with her adorable niece.
